With an excavator equipped with a quick coupler the operator can easily connect and disconnect work tools when doing construction, demolition, landscaping or utility work.

Steelwrist S couplers follow the symmetrical standard (S-standard) and are cast in steel. Large pin contact surfaces, optimized use of materials and no weak weld seams make our coupler extremely compact and robust. The advantage of casting in steel is that materials can be optimized where needed (for example, contact surfaces to pins in order to minimize the pressure per square millimeter) and eliminate material where it is not needed. The result is an unrivaled relation between strength and weight.

We also include expander pins to create a truss structure to take up the lateral forces that come when you start using a tiltrotator. Our expander pin technology ensures a play free connection between the machine arm and the coupler, to reduce wear and extend the life of your equipment.

Hydraulic or mechanical coupler type

Hydraulic couplers use a quick coupler hydraulic circuit, so you can change between work tools from the cab. The complete range of Steelwrist S couplers, from S30 to S90, are available with hydraulic locking function.

Mechanical couplers are the type of coupler where you must get out of the cab and unlock the coupler manually when you want to change work tool. They are mainly used on small, compact excavators, and Steelwrist offers a mechanical version of the two smallest coupler sizes, S30 and S40.

Safety solutions that work with all types of excavators

Steelwrist machine couplers and tiltrotator couplers come either with LockSense, Front Pin Lock or Front Pin Hook, machine independent safety solutions that work on all types of excavators, regardless if they are small, large, new or used. All solutions comply with international safety regulations such as EN474 and ISO13031.

Possible to upgrade from hydraulic S to automatic SQ coupler type

When using a Steelwrist S coupler with an hydraulic powered work tool, like for example a grapple, you will need to get out of the cab to connect the hydraulic hoses when changing work tools. It is possible to upgrade a hydraulic S coupler to an automatic SQ coupler at a later stage. Steelwrist SQ is our high performing automatic oil connection technology that enables you to easily change and connect hydraulic work tools on the excavator without leaving the cab. Naturally, all SQ products comply with the Open-S (OS®) standard.
