Steelwrist LockSense is a state-of-the-art sensor based system to indicate if the work tool is securely locked or not when coupling. The patented and wireless LockSense technology enhances safety on quick couplers and tiltrotators, reducing the risk of a bucket or work tool being dropped, if the operator by mistake did not connect the work tool correctly. The innovative LockSense system represents a leap in the technology development of solutions for safe work tool changes on excavators.
LockSense complies with international safety regulations such as EN474 and ISO13031, and has the necessary features to be aligned with upcoming safety regulations. The system works equally well on all excavators.

 A wireless system
The LockSense system consists of two independent wedges with battery-powered wireless sensors inside that communicate by radio to the Quantum Connectivity Gateway in the excavator cab. During the locking procedure the wedges twist, a movement which is monitored to determine the locking status of the coupler. The coupling status is shown to the operator on a display.

 Robust design
The wireless solution eliminates the hassle of delicate cables and connectors in exposed positions. A great advantage in tough applications such as demolition or in general contractor work. This also makes maintenance easy in comparison to wire based solutions. The exchangeable battery has an expected life time of about five years.

 Machine independent
LockSense is a machine independent system and works equally well on all excavators, and can be installed on both machine coupler and tiltrotator coupler. LockSense monitors the coupling status and does not interfere with the locking procedure of the coupler.

 Perfect for the operator
LockSense indicates to the operator in the excavator cab with both visual and auditory confirmations if the work tool is securely connected or not. It is more than just safety; it is peace of mind, ensuring that every job site is as safe as it is efficient.

  LockSense explained
––––––––––––––––
Markus Nilsson, Steelwrist co-founder and Chief Technical Officer, describes the LockSense system and how it works. LockSense has been developed as a new safety feature for the third generation of Steelwrist tiltrotators and is an important part of the company’s work to be at the forefront of the technology development in the tiltrotator market. It is the follow-up to the patented Front Pin Lock safety solution.
