Steelwrist launches new gripper unit for Steelwrist X18!
Steelwrist X18 is one of the most popular tiltrotators for excavators between 12 and 18 tons. In many countries it is very common to equip the X18 with a gripper unit for increased usability and flexibility of the excavator. Steelwrist now launches a new gripper unit for the X18 tiltrotator, which increased gripper opening width and a new gripper arm geometry.
- A well designed gripper unit is a very important add-on to tiltrotators, and we have put a lot of effort into the design of the new gripper cassette to the X18, said Jan Berneryd, Steelwrist Sales & Marketing manager. The new design is based on feedback from many excavator operators who are using a gripper unit every day. For many operators the gripper is an extremely useful tool, once you have used one you don’t want to be without it.
- The new gripper opens 750 mm to make it possible to pick up large objects easily. The gripper arms geometry is also new, to make it easy to pick up a vast variety of objects on a construction site. The gripper unit has very robust covers to protect the hydraulic cylinders from being damaged. The excavator drivers involved in the field testing are very satisfied with the new design, said Markus Nilsson, Steelwrist R&D manager.
- Steelwrist gripper unit is designed as a cassette unit which means that it can be retrofitted on a Steelwrist X18 tiltrotator. The solution with a cassette also means that the building height is always the same, regardless if the gripper is fitted or not. This is not always the case with competing products, who sometimes have a significantly increased overall building height with a gripper fitted, Jan Berneryd said.
The new the gripper is called G750 and can now be ordered together with the Steelwrist X18.
