Long history with a young company
Steelwrist AB was created in 2005 but the history of the Tiltrotator goes back 20 to the early 1980′s. Today, Steewrist is the fastest growing manufacturer of tiltrotators and quick couplers on the market. We continue to take market share in virtually all markets where we operate.
2011 – …..
Several product launches in pipeline….
X07 – The first fully casted tiltrotator in the world is launched at Swedish industry fair MaskinExpo in May. Specially designed for the important 5-7 ton segment where couplers S45/S50 or CW10 are needed.
GEOfit – The first quick connection including both Greasing, Electrics and Oil (GEO) in the market is launched at MaskinExpo in May.
XControl G2 – Joystick steerng that fulfills requirements for all different types of excavators is launched in March.
Sales in Germany and Switzerland started.
2010 – Continued growth and Control System focus
Strong growth and sales start-up in France and Poland. Major development work with new XControl Generation 2 result in clear technology leadership for Control Systems. New XControl Joysticks launched as part of the system.
The company ISO certified for both Quality (ISO9001) and Environmental (ISO 14001).
2009 – Consolidation and market shares
Manufacturing concentrated to new premises in Edsberg, Sollentuna, just north of Stockholm. Large investments in new production plant, including robotic welding facility, machining operations and new paint shop. Inauguration of new production facility in October 2009.
Volvo CE appoints Steelwrist “Preferred Supplier” for tiltrotators for the Nordic markets. Subsidiary Structure created in Finland and UK. Machining operations taken in-house. 1000 units in the field is passed.
2008 – Growth hit by financial crisis
Sales doubles during spring 2009 and the X04 model is launched at MaskinExpo in May. Agreement signed with several major machine dealers in Sweden.
XControl, Steelwrist own Control System for Tiltrotators launched on MaskinExpo. The systemis very user friendly and easier to install than the alternatives and becomes a successfrom start. In Q4 the financial crisis impact the company as market is going down. 500 units in the field is passed.
2007 – Continued growth
Steelwrist outgrows the Vallentuna site and production moved to Sollentuna. Production capacity is dramatically increased. Relaunch of Dento type Quick coupler.
Dealer network grows rapidly and sales multiply. New distributors in Denmark and Finland. Welding operations in-house.
2006 – Commercialization
After evaluation in close cooperation with customers a number of changes to the product is introduced and the product is ready to be taken out on the market. First tiltrotator delivered under Steelwrist brand name in February 2006.
Steelwrist introduced on several markets in Norway, Finland, Denmark and Holland. Assembly and testing in-house.
2005 – Steelwrist founded
Steelwrist founders acquires the development project in Dsolution AB, and Steelwrist AB is started. New capital is taken into and the ownership structure and strengthen up. Stefan Stockhaus takes on the CEO position, Markus Nilsson is becomes CTO and Jan Berneryd takes on the VP marketing and sales job.
2003
The prototype series of the new generation tiltrotators is launched.
2001
Dsolution AB is formed and a the design of a new generation tiltrotators based on the experiences from the 80′s and the 90′s is started.
1997
The tiltrotator market starts to get going, not only in Sweden but also in the neighboring Nordic countries. Gjerstad Industri A / S sees the potential in the the product and acquire Dento. Gjerstads owner unexpectedly dies and the planned construction of Knivsta factory is put on hold.
1990
The Swedish construction industry crisis. Several companies go bankrupt, but Dento manages to survive thanks to very tough cost reductions.
1986
Steelwrist predecessor Dento, begins to deliver its first tiltrotator serie, interest is increasing gradually in the late 80s the 90s.
1985
The Swedish market for the buckets is dominated by five companies: Dento, Bofors,Överum, Cerapid and SMP. Some companies taking an interest in the newly developed tiltrotator concept.
1980
The Swedish market for Quick Couplers starts to take off. Several companies begin to manufacture quick couplers as popularity is growing.
1970
Quick Couplers for excavators sees the light of day. Swedish Åkerman is the first company to develop a quick coupler.
